The Great Swindle
There has been a fraud perpetrated against the people of this nation. A scam has been carried out on this people.
We’ve been hoodwinked. We are the victim of vicious shenanigans.
We, the Church, the priesthood of all believers – the nation of Abraham’s blessing – have been deceived, conned, and bamboozled.
Yes, there has been a fraud perpetrated against this nation – this nation of God’s people, which knows no borders and recognizes no human nationalities.
And the fraud is this: We’ve been led to believe that secular governments are our salvation - that secular political parties are our only hope.
We’ve bought the lie that a human election can transform our lives, resurrect our world, even save our soul.
Who has done this to us? Who would dare?
The guilty party is obvious: It’s us. We did it to ourselves.
Duped and hornswoggled by ourselves, blinded by our own pride, believers in our own deception, products of our own sin, we have found ourselves divided and saturated with distrust and disdain for one another – and drowning in the dregs of our disappointment.
What do we do now? Where is our hope?
It is where it has always been – the ONLY place it has ever been: The Kingdom of God and in the King, Jesus Christ.
AND in the place where the King has made his throne: The Church, the Body of Christ.
Whatever your political beliefs, whatever your political party, and WHOEVER wins any human election, now or in the years to come, here’s the truth of our faith:
Jesus Christ is our King, our savior, and our hope. And, as the Church, we are the Body of Christ in the world. If our true aim and goal is to live into the prayer of Jesus, God’s ‘Kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven,’ then it is us – the nation of God’s people – who will do the work of faithfulness through the Spirit to make it happen.
In other words, regardless of who wins this American election that we are so consumed with right now, which is temporary and will fade into the dust of history – regardless of who wins:
It’s time for us, the Church, to get to work.
We don’t get to vote on that. It’s who we are as disciples of Jesus Christ – as citizens of the Kingdom of God.
And, it’s what Christ has called us to do, Northside Church.
Will we continue to be duped and distracted by the divisions of the world - or will we come together as the Church and answer the call of Christ?
